Just Another Day
Yesterday Dawson and I stopped at a friends house to hydrate her flowers and garden since they were in Wenatchee for the weekend and then we headed to Grandparent Smiths' house. Aaron and Justin were already there as they were to be working on a tractor for Papa. Before getting there Dawson and I decided that we were to help pay for a saddle that we have gotten from Gramma by cleaning her house for her. Well that soon changed to doing some yard work once we got to her house. The Boys picked up the trash and big rocks out of the center island in the driveway while I mowed the island area and what the mower could reach around the driveway and also mowed Gramma's lawn by her front door. My hands and helpers gave up before we could do all the yards. Plus it was way too hot to be outside anymore. Even the basement wasn't very cool. It was 75* down there. According to the weather station this morning it was only 91* in Baker yesterday but yet it felt like it was near 100*. Aaron didn't get the tractor that he set out to fix so he could bale some small bales. Have to take the engine apart to fix it. So he pulled the little baler up to Grandma Mable's house and hooked it up to a different tractor. He did get some raking and baling done. Tonight when he gets home we have the pickup with hay on it to unload into the barn yet (Aaron didn't want me to attempt it & that is fine with me) before we go pick up the rest of the bales. Hay this year is so hard to find because of the drought and when you do you pay dearly for it. First cutting alfalfa/grass cost us $140/ton. Second cutting is $160/ton now. Last year for the same stuff was $80/ton. Makes a person want to reevaluate their animals that need fed through the winter months or year around.
